{"id":3099,"date":"2013-08-12T01:56:51","date_gmt":"2013-08-12T00:56:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fullo.net\/blog\/?p=3099"},"modified":"2013-08-12T01:56:51","modified_gmt":"2013-08-12T00:56:51","slug":"from-june-2012-to-june-2013-a-recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fullo.net\/blog\/2013\/08\/12\/from-june-2012-to-june-2013-a-recap\/","title":{"rendered":"from June 2012 to June 2013: a recap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m, more or less, 2 months late about this recap&#8230; but it took me a loooot of time to find some will to finish it&#8230; :)<\/p>\n<p>I spent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fullo.net\/blog\/2012\/05\/07\/novita-dal-fronte-phpday-e-jsday-2012-nuovi-business-model-e-startup\/\">2012<\/a> testing new business opportunities, and the 1st semester of 2013 was spent refining those business model.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>startup business<\/em> for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ideato.it\">ideato<\/a> performed quite well, we helped a good number of startups both with advisoring and code and I became mentor for a couple of them. Sadly <a href=\"http:\/\/draftq.com\">DraftQ<\/a> shuts down, but <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oltretata.it\">Oltretata<\/a> is, still, alive (we also participated to three edition of SMAU, won a prize and we are working on a nice pivot) and we create a new MVP for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.maker2gh.com\">the Makers market<\/a> from a <a href=\"http:\/\/keasoft.it\">Manuel<\/a>&#8216;s idea. It&#8217;s still a growing, and risky, market but I&#8217;m really enjoying it. <\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Sadly even this year I didn&#8217;t participate directly in writing code, my (new) work as dad really consumed my nights and I had not enough energy (will and ideas) to be spent on something different. Moreover I dedicated my ideato time, maybe too much of that, building new business opportunities and having meeting with wannabe investors, wannabe startuppers and <em>wannabe wannabers<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>As for 2012 I participated in writing a technical cookbook for <a href=\"http:\/\/fag.it\">FAG Edizioni<\/a>, this time it&#8217;s an italian guide to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.it\/gp\/product\/8866043168\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&#038;camp=3370&#038;creative=24114&#038;creativeASIN=8866043168&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;tag=fullo-21\">Javascript&#8217;s best practices<\/a> where I curated the authors coordination and I wrote a chapter on <em>html5 storage features<\/em>. You can find a free chapter (in italian) <a href=\"http:\/\/jsbestpractices.it\">here<\/a>.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/phpbestpractices.it\">PHP Best Practices<\/a> is still performing well, thanks.. and continue <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.it\/gp\/product\/8866040746\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&#038;camp=3370&#038;creative=24114&#038;creativeASIN=8866040746&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;tag=fullo-21\">to buy it<\/a>&#8230; ;)<\/p>\n<p>2013 is definitely my conferences year. With <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kerning.it\/about.html\">some folks<\/a> I created from scratch the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kerning.it\" title=\"kerning conference\">1st conference of (web)typography in Italy<\/a> and it was a success. We will replicate it for sure in 2014!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/2013.jsday.it\">JsDay<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/2013.phpday.it\">phpDay<\/a> are still growing. We sold more than 500 tickets and we had more than 350 attendees for each of the 4 days of the conference. Sadly this year we didn&#8217;t have any <em>huge name<\/em> but I got a lot of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.urbandictionary.com\/define.php?term=Pinky%20Promise\">pinky promises<\/a> for 2014&#8217;s editions&#8230; ;)<\/p>\n<p>With the <a href=\"http:\/\/grusp.org\">GrUSP<\/a> I also organised and managed a lot of one-day-conferences: <a href=\"http:\/\/symfonyday.it\">SymfonyDay<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/zfday.it\">ZendFrameworkDay<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/mageday.it\">MagentoDay<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/wpday.it\">wpDay<\/a>, the 3rd edition of <a href=\"http:\/\/phptostart.it\">phpToStart<\/a> and the next <a href=\"http:\/\/nosqlday.it\">nosqlDay<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>At last but not least I&#8217;m taking part in the steering committee of <a href=\"http:\/\/europe.zendcon.com\/reviewing-committee\/\">Zend Conference<\/a> in Paris and <a href=\"http:\/\/bettersoftware.it\">BetterSoftware<\/a> in Florence, where I&#8217;m contributing also in the new ideas for the evolution of the conference.<\/p>\n<p>I did a lot of things but I&#8217;m still not completely satisfied by my job. Last year I promised myself to work for a couple of new foreign customers and still I&#8217;m struggling to convince them that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ideato.it\/portfolio\/\">ideato is a good partner<\/a>.
