{"id":3369,"date":"2020-02-07T01:01:00","date_gmt":"2020-02-07T00:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fullo.net\/blog\/?p=3369"},"modified":"2020-02-27T04:09:27","modified_gmt":"2020-02-27T03:09:27","slug":"sale-by-consulting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fullo.net\/blog\/2020\/02\/07\/sale-by-consulting\/","title":{"rendered":"Sale by consulting"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Since in the IT service industry, the pitching of your offering is not enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the biggest lessons I learned in the past ten years, is that to sell your company services, you need to understand them to the point to advise your potential customers when using them is or is not necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Shortening for TL;DR readers: the game has slowly but inevitably shifted from the approach to <em>sale by pitching <\/em>to <em>sale by consulting.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>But what does it means?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It means that tempting prospects with discounts or (impossible) commitments on time (or scope) of the delivery are no more enough, or even desirable for the health of your company. A (decent) business developer has to use an approach focused on giving value from the first moment you came in contact with the customer, if not even before using white papers, articles, and (valuable) content marketing material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The salesman figure, that does cold calls or consume his\/her shoes to reach physically any possible lead, in the <strong>consulting\/service firms<\/strong> is an anachronistic figure that brings costs and small results.
