hanno aperto i repository di The Breezy Badger, la versione 5.10 di ubuntu che andrà a sostituire ad ottobre l’attuale Hoary Hedgehog… se anche voi vi sentite molto unstable ecco source.list aggiornato! ;)

gli amici degli amici… ovvero pubblicità virale

Quindi questo post è chiaramente per fargli pubblicità, o meglio, visto che al web non ha potuto dedicare molto tempo (già farsi pubblicare da esordiente è stata una bella faticata!), io faccio il post è speriamo che google faccia il resto.
Poi una recensione seria la faremo e magari anche un bel sito. Gabriele Gobitti – Lato B – Ed. Lampi di stampa – 153p. – 10€. Intanto, per chi trovasse questo post in cerca di altre indicazioni, il libro lo si può comprare online da IBS o da Bol. Un suo racconto è invece online: Il tango di Luca. è stata rilasciata oggi la test 2 di Fedora Core 4:

se avete un cellulare di ultima generazione che supporta le API bluetooth JSR-82, potete divertirvi a testare l’insicurezza dei cellulari di chi vi sta intorno usando Blooover.

Since Adam Laurie’s BlueSnarf experiment and the subsequent BlueBug experiment it is proven that some Bluetooth-enabled phones have security issues. Until now, attackers need laptops for the snarfing of other people’s information. Unless attackers do a long-distance-snarf, people would see that there is somebody with a laptop trying to do strange things. Blooover is a proof-of-concept tool that is intended to run on J2ME-enabled cell phones that appear to be comparably seamless. Blooover is a tool that is intended to serve as an audit tool that people can use to check whether their phones and phones of friends and employees are vulnerable.

Since the application runs on handheld devices and sucks information, it has been called Blooover (derived from Bluetooth Hoover).

wp come cms?

che la nuova versione di wp sia stata accettata dagli utenti anche come cms è ormai appurato, tanto che nascono i primi plugin che permettono di avere in home qualcosa di diverso dai post del blog o i primi temi dedicati allo scopo. Semiologic è appunto un tema di questo genere:

  • The front page has a non-standard behavior; it will display the page with a slug of ‘home’, and if none is available it will display the last posts in the category with a slug of ‘blog’
  • The sidebar displays the latest in categories with a slug of ‘news’ and ‘blog’ separately when these are available, plus the latest comments grouped by posts
  • Posts in the category with slug ‘highlights’ are highlighted in red when they are displayed in lists
  • The header and footer navigation menus are automatically updated to reflect your having pages with a slug of ’solutions’, ‘products’, ’services’, ‘resources’, ‘downloads’, ‘legal’, ‘about’ and ‘contact’

l’idea di sfruttare le page slug non è nuova, tant’è che anche il mio blog le sfrutta per la generazione dei css e del menù contestuale qui in alto, ma è interessante vedere come altri utilizzi di questa (ed altre) funzioni riescano a modificare completamente lo scopo base di wp. Gestire blog.

ho scoperto, grazie a mariachiara, che esiste anche un plugin chiamato Structured Bloggin che permette di creare delle pagine tramite una sorta di pubblicazione guidata per creare recensioni ed articoli con una struttura sempre uguale…

thunderbird tray

Thunderbird-Tray is a system tray launcher tool for Mozilla Thunderbird.
It hides Thunderbird when you minimize the Thunderbird window or when you click the tray icon.
Clicking the icon again will re-show the main window. Also it is possible to start Thunderbird by clicking on the tray icon. You can right click the Thunderbird-Tray icon to see a menu with the available options at any time. Thunderbird-Tray is open-source and licensed under the GPL.

zend studio firefox toolbar

zend ha rilasciato un plugin per integrare in firefox alcuni controlli presenti nello zend studio. Sicuramente tutti i programmatori php che lavorano con linux (o che non vogliono far partire ie per fare debug) ringrazieranno! :)
