The Internet Communications Engine (Ice) is a modern alternative to object middleware such as CORBA™ or COM/DCOM/COM+. Ice is easy to learn, yet provides a powerful network infrastructure for demanding technical applications. Ice shines where technologies such as SOAP or XML-RPC are too slow, or do not provide sufficient scalability or security. For a comparison between Ice and CORBA, please see this page.

Ice is free software, available with full source, and released under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL). Commercial licenses are available for customers who wish to use Ice for closed-source software.

The Ice extension for PHP, IcePHP, provides PHP scripts with access to Ice facilities. IcePHP is a thin integration layer implemented in C++ using the Ice C++ run-time library. This implementation technique has a number of advantages over a native PHP implementation of the Ice run-time:

come è accaduto per thunderbird e firefox adesso anche il mozilla calendar è diventato un’applicazione a sè stante ed è stata chiamata sunbird.

Sun ha rilasciato la prima beta del progetto Looking Glass, il famoso window manage che funziona in un ambiente 3d.

Project Looking Glass is based on Java technology and explores bringing a richer user experience to the desktop and applications via 3D windowing and visualization capabilities. It is an open development project based on and evolved from Sun Microsystems’ advanced technology project. It will support running unmodified existing applications in a 3D space, as well as APIs for 3D window manager and application development. At the moment, existing application integration is supported for Linux platforms.

The project intends to break two boundaries — the 2D-ness of the current desktop environment and the way the desktop environment evolves. Project Looking Glass is in its infancy. We need to explore lots of ideas and possibilities. We’re releasing the Project Looking Glass code to the whole community to explore every aspect of the technology rather than restricting access to a privileged few. We believe this open development is an excellent model to pursue this exciting and vast opportunity. So, your involvement is eagerly anticipated.

I WWW Robots (anche chiamati wanderer o spider) sono programmi che attraversano le pagine web sfruttando i link. Quando uno di questi robot visita il tuo sito, il tuo blog, il tuo forum, ecc., fa il check di tutte le pagine linkate in cerca di indirizzi e-mail.

Tutto quello che devi fare è mettere un link a questa pagina così, ogni volta che un robot controllerà il tuo sito, verrà da essa ‘risucchiato’. Per mettere un link a questa pagina basta prelevare il codice dal sito di spam poison.

I robot che collezionano indirizzi e-mail andranno in loop e riceveranno fake di indirizzi e-mail dinamicamente generati, aggiungeranno enormi quantità di dati ai database degli spammer e contamineranno questi file al punto da renderli inutilizzabili. Gli spammer dovranno quindi pulire i loro database, altrimenti riceveranno indietro MOLTE e-mail :-)

su jon ‘s guides ho trovato una guida all’installazione e l’utilizzo del bluetooth su macchine windows (tra l’altro spiega come installarlo su 2003 server). La guida è ricca di link e presenta una lista delle principali periferiche funzionanti (telefoni e non).

dal 21 luglio è stato ripristinato il supporto al formato GIF all’interno delle librerie GD, librerie che sono utilizzate da molti linguaggi (php, perl, phyton) per modificare e creare immagini.
